Life Story Interviews
No words can truly replicate the experience of being face-to-face with a loved one. At Eidetic Films, we believe film is the closest we can come to preserving that unique connection — the simple experience of just being there with someone.

What do we offer?
We believe in the power of professional, long form interviews to preserve the experience of what it’s like to be there with your loved ones. Our packages are built around 1-2 hour uninterrupted interviews focused around what they know best - their life story.

Our Story
In 2020, my wife Kimberly and I decided to film our grandmas so future generations of our family could get a glimpse of who they were. It turned out to be very rewarding experience that also had the unintended effect of letting us get to know them better as well.
Sadly, both our grandmas have since passed, but we cherish those conversations and are grateful we had the opportunity to ask questions we never would have in daily life. Over time, I’ve come to appreciate how a long-form interview reveals more than just answers—it captures personality. Are they quick to laugh or more introspective? What memories make their eyes light up? What’s the rhythm of their speech? These details can be just as valuable as their words in understanding who they are and where we come from.
These two interviews have inspired me to offer this service to others. I believe in its value and am passionate about helping families preserve their loved ones’ stories.

Why Us?
With digital video and audio technology, we can now share our loved ones’ stories with future generations—something no previous generation could — preserving them through the irreplaceable connection of face and voice.
While smartphones make recording accessible, most lack the technical skills to ensure high-quality results. With expertise in professional interview-based filmmaking, we provide recordings that let your family focus on the conversation, free from technical distractions.
The Process
Before the interview, we’ll send a questionnaire with some standard interview questions and encourage you to add personal ones — no one knows your loved one better than you. Sharing it with other friends and family can also help build out the list of questions.
Once the list is set, we will set a date, time and location for the interview. We always recommend shooting somewhere quiet and indoors around midday to give us the most control over the light and sound of the location. We'd also recommend choosing a location that you associate with your loved one if possible.
On the day of the interview, we will show up 2 hours prior to filming to set up our gear. Once the gear is set, we're good to go!
After filming, we’ll edit the footage and provide a download link for you to share with family and friends.
